Stephen King is one of my favorite writers ever, because his books are interesting--most of them. He's written a lot of shit, but also some of my favorite books. It's a real challenge to have discussions about him, because I totally separate books from their authors, because I've learned a lot can be gained and enjoyed that has nothing to do with the author at all. Most people have not reached that point in their development, I think--and so anytime I create a discussion about a book, everyone immediately wants to jump on the author instead, and it immediately becomes a shitsmearing feeding frenzy. Nobody can stick to the damn book.
Well, this discussion is NOT about a book. This discussion actually is about Stephen King as a person. Let's all take a massive shit on him, because he totally deserves it. I expect a horror fiction writer to be an asshole. I've accepted that fact. I can't imagine what kind of suspense writing I could expect from a totally sane, well-adjusted, and responsible human being--but it would probably be really boring. People are for what they're for. Stephen King is for writing interesting books with a lot of weird shit in them. He's not really for anything else. He's totally fucked up in the head, he's boring as hell on twitter and can't shut up about politics, and I'm pretty sure all the drugs he's taken in his life has fucked up his brain. Worse yet, he's actually gone public with certain murder stories in the news, and pretended he's a pathologist, and totally fucks it all up--and has no business doing so. He should shut the fuck up about the real world, and since he's unwilling to do so, he's also an asshole.
I once tweeted Stephen King, suggesting he write a story about a horror fiction writer who can't shut the fuck up about thoroughly boring politics on twitter, but gained such a following from morons who don't realize that they shouldn't be looking for tips on how to make the world a better place from a man who writes fucked us stories about people killing eachother--that he ran for office and became President of the United States. Then what happens?
I think that would make a great fuckin story--maybe the best he's ever written, and predictably, there was no reply.
I don't know who is stupider, the morons who look to a horror fiction writer's advice on how to improve the government, the morons who think a horror fiction writer should be more responsible, or the moron horror fiction writer who can't shut the fuck up about how to fix the real world.
If we're really being honest though, isn't it something to enjoy rather than being angry about it all? I think it's stimulating to see morons all attacking eachother because nobody can see the big picture--that they're all morons for trying to bring a horror fiction writer into the real world to fix it, for good or ill.
Anyway, that's MY opinion of Stephen King, but what's YOUR opinion? Now's your opportunity to shit all over this motherfucker with no consequences at all.

I can't thank my friend and favorite user Paul Tiki for introducing me to Cunk--arguably the most fascinating, most entertaining, and stupidest fuckin historian I've ever seen in my life.
If you haven't experienced Cunk, you just haven't lived. She accesses some of the most most famous scholars in the world, and asks them the dumbest fucking questions you can possibly imagine, and even money says your imagination will be challenged.
I live in hope someday we'll see her in an intense debate with Karl Pilkington, the other dumbest human being alive.
Both Karl and Cunk, despite being abysmally stupid, are two of my favorite people in the whole world, because I've discovered in life that with enough effort and enough study, and enough thinking about the world around us, we can generate a mind that truly understands the world around us, and finally reaches those levels of understanding that we all respect so much in the finest minds of our age and of history at large--but then it gets boring eventually, and I have found that it is so much more entertaining watching people who are dumb as dogshit trying desperately to do the same. I will admit to a certain amount of condesending smugness that I've found someone stupider than me, and that makes me feel better about myself--because if we're really being honest, we all have that, but that gets old pretty quickly too--one thing that never seems to get old for me though, is the paradigm of the desperate effort of a moron on a quest to end his or her stupidity. I feel like that's a fundamental paradigm that fascinates us all, because we've all been there, and anyone who denies that is LYING. We have all been morons at one time, even if only because we were children--as we progressed through our experiences, we learned unexpected lessons and grew out of our stupidities (some of us), but almost always with great effort, enormous risk, and often a lot of damage.
If we're really being honest, we're all Karl and Cunk. We're all morons, and some of us are going to great lengths to throw off our stupidities and desperately trying to develop our perspectives into one that doesn't suck. Some of us make it, some of us don't, and even those who do only do so in certain ways and to a certain degree, but the quest is common to us all.
Let's watch Karl and Cunk try to better themselves. It's like trying to teach a dog Latin--but dammit that dog is trying his ass off, and really making a proper effort, so you've got to give him credit, don't you? lol
